Our Story:

West Mountain Animal Hospital (WMAH) has been a leading force in animal healthcare for over 40 years. We provide veterinary care to animals in Southern Vermont, Northwest Massachusetts, and Eastern New York. We strive to enhance the lives of companion animals and their owners. Our goal is to provide progressive, high-quality medicine combined with dedicated client service.

West Mountain Animal Hospital began as a small mixed animal clinic in 1979 under the guidance of Dr. Bob Bergman and Dr. Anna Worth, who were married in Veterinary School. Dr. Linda Morris joined them as a partner in 1999. Drs. Bob and Anna’s son, Dr. Bo Bergman joined the practice in 2009 and is now partners with Dr. Linda.

WMAH facilities grew through the years and in February 2007 moved to a new location at the top of Harwood Hill in Bennington, Vermont. WMAH’s expanding practice is a testament to the dedication and the caring attention provided by the doctors and their knowledgeable, caring support staff. We continue to look for ways to improve the level of animal care for the region.

OUR MISSION

Our mission at West Mountain Animal Hospital is to cultivate and celebrate the human-animal bond with compassion, excellence in medicine and service, emphasis on quality of life and respect for all. Our core values are Caring, Compassion and Communication.

OUR ACCREDITATION

An accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1978, we have been awarded the highest certification AAHA offers. Based on the highest standards of veterinary medicine, on-sight evaluations are performed regularly. Only 14% of the veterinary practices throughout the United States and Canada make the commitment to voluntarily participate. The evaluation consists of an intensive assessment of the hospital, its medical equipment, practice methods, record keeping and patient health care management.

West Mountain Animal Hospital’s entire staff utilizes AAHA’s extensive resources for continuing education. The AAHA Standards of Accreditation are composed of 940 standards and 18 categories covering all areas of veterinary practice—from anesthesia and pain management to recordkeeping and client communication. Achieving and maintaining the highest standard of care provides our hospital with peace of mind that clients and their beloved pets are receiving the very best of care.
